Saint Andrews, NB  – The Mayor and Council of the Town of Saint Andrews are pleased to announce that Mr. Chris Spear was appointed the Chief Administrative Officer at the Council Meeting on November 4, 2019.

Mr. Spear started his municipal career with the Town of Saint Andrews in October of 2004 as Treasurer and Deputy-Clerk.  A lifelong resident of Charlotte County, he brings a breadth of experience for the municipality as well as a passion for the people and community of Saint Andrews.

Mr. Spear is a professional Accountant who spent a decade in the local aquaculture industry before accepting the Treasurer’s position in 2004. Over the years, Mr. Spear has been the Acting Chief Administrative Officer, successfully carrying out the duties during staff transitions.

“I look forward to continuing my work, albeit in a new capacity, with Mayor and Council.  I have great faith in our staff and the commitment they bring everyday, and with the relationships I have built throughout the community, I appreciate the passion many of our residents have in advancing Saint Andrews to ensure a thriving and welcoming community.”

Mr. Spear will be responsible for the overall operation of the Town services and financial management.   Council earlier decided to separate the roles of Chief Administrative Officer and Town Clerk and is now recruiting for the positions of Clerk and Senior Administrator and Assistant Treasurer.

“Municipal Governance has become more onerous and complex”, says Mayor Doug Naish. “In the near future, municipalities are likely to assume even more responsibilities to serve their citizens. We need to be ready.”
