Free Gentle Persuasive Approach Training (GPA) for Residents and Businesses

Thanks to funding received under the New Horizons Grant for Seniors, the Town of Saint Andrews has partnered with the New Brunswick Continuing Care Safety Organization to host two days of free Gentle Persuasive Approach Training for residents and business owners.

What is Gentle Persuasive Approach Training?

This is an innovative dementia care education training based on a person-centred approach. Learn how to:

• Defuse challenging and disruptive behaviour before an incident escalates into a crisis.
• Improve communication by establishing a common language.
• Boost confidence to intervene both verbally and physically.
• Alleviate the stress and anxiety associated with confusion or uncertainty in crisis moments.
• Reduce the risk of injury by learning safe physical interventions.

Who Should Attend?

• Staff in retail, restaurant, or service industry services
• Family caregivers
• Community volunteers
• Public employees
• Anybody who may encounter someone with dementia in their day-to-day activities

There are 20 spots available for each day of the program; 40 spots in total. Participants will receive a gift bag with support tools for Gentle Persuasive Approach Training.
