John Hawkes and Helen Hunt are terrific as a poet paralyzed from the neck down and the sex surrogate he hires to lose his virginity, in Ben Lewin’s touching and funny film. Film critic Todd McCarthy writes:
“It argues in favour of living a full life, whatever one’s personal constraints, of not being intimidated by
societal or religious dogma or, most of all, by one’s fears.” Note that the 18A rating is for strong
sexuality including graphic nudity and frank dialogue.
